Titelok shrink wrap team of Ronnie Capps and Steve Coleman did what others thought they would not be able to do. Slow
trolling Lake Conway and winning the tournament. Lake Conway known for its timber did not stop the team from doing the
work it would take to troll the lake. The tactic paid off as they weighed in 28.41 lbs over the two days to be 3.5 lbs over their
closest competitor.
They stated they used double hook minnow rigs, got to put some time in on the lake this year and targeted female fish. They
located 5 spots that had females and the fish were staging around deep water structure. The fish hadn't spawned but were
ready. They fished slow using Humminbird electronics, Capps & Coleman BnM poles, double minnow rigs, 3/8 wts with #2
hook and Titelok rod holders. The team won $4000.00 for their efforts.
Second place went to Marvin and Roy Deckard from Missouri. The team was sitting in 4th place after day one having weighed
in 11.60 lbs. Day two they weighed in 13.60 for a two day total of 25.20 lbs. The Bucksaw Marina team from Truman Lake
stated they struggled some during pre fishing. They were fishing 6-10 foot waters around green cypress trees. They fished
shadow sides and didn’t stay on stumps with no bite. Day two they moved to another area where no one was fishing the
cypress trees. They used Vicious line, Mid South jigs tipped with minnows and Rocky Top weedless jig heads. They won
$2000.00 for second place.
Mid South jigs team of Dennis Bayles and Don Blackley were in 5th place after day one with a total of 11.58 lbs. On day two
the team weighed in 10.75 lbs. for a two day total of 22.33 lbs. The Arkansas and Missouri team stated they fished the main
lake around Cypress. They used Mid South jigs with a glitter head. They found that jig was working good couple weeks prior
during pre fishing and continued to use it. They jigged the stumps pulling up about 6 inches from the bottom the whole time.
The team won $1000.00 for third place.
